MAKEUP TREND FORECAST 2012- 2013

Blue Aura
By Kevin James Bennett

“Blue Aura” is the name of the gorgeous fall-winter look by award winning American make-up artist Kevin James Bennett for Kryolan.

In this upcoming season, ombre and “tonal” make-up are the statement makers and Bennett demonstrates this trend by creating a modified smoky eye of unexpected elegance using blue as the new black. The focal point is a modern, intensively color saturated eye make-up, framed with a flawlessly perfected complexion.

Kevin James Bennett, winner of 2 Emmy® Awards, is famous for his technique of creating radiantly beautiful complexions that frame his make-up art. “Make-up becomes fascinating and quite memorable when there is one featured element”, is his credo. “And smooth, perfected skin is the ideal backdrop.”

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE TO ACHIEVE THE SAME LOOK:

Foundation
To obtain the ultimate in natural foundation, veteran pro artist Bennett relies on high definition make-up for his work in all media formats (film, video and photography) – also for everyday looks. As a base, Bennett applies Kryolan HD Micro Primer to insure the perfect foundation application and extended wearability.

After the skin is primed, he applies foundation only where it is necessary. For his trend look, Bennett recommends the soft focus appearance of Kryolan HD Matifying Liquid and chooses a shade that matches the model’s natural skin color exactly. Immediately upon application, this delicately matifying foundation with micronized pigments looks satin-like and creates a “second, lovelier version of your own skin,” as Bennett describes it.

As next step, foundation guru Kevin James Bennett contours the face. With HD Micro Foundation Cache, he creates a strong brightness in the center of the face and the tops of the cheekbones. Instead of blusher, he shades the face below the cheekbones with HD Micro Foundation Sheer Tan in a tone somewhat darker than the foundation itself. This imparts warm radiance and subtle depth.

Next fall and winter, the trend will go toward a more matte finished complexion, which is why he sets the makeup in the next step with invisible, ultrafine HD Micro Finish Powder.

Eyes
Creation of an ombre eye make-up requires graduation of various shading levels from a single color family. Bennett creates his exotic multi-dimensional teal trend color using two cool matte blue shades and a shimmering, jade-green pigment.

“Sky” Eye Shadow in dynamic sky-blue is applied onto the entire eyelid, blended into the crease and continued under the lower eyelash line. “This is how”, Bennett says, “We create the modern round form which is very fashion forward.”

On the outer third of the lid and in the eye crease, Bennett blends a blue-black “Night Blue”, toward the center of the eye until it disappears into the “Sky” eye shadow. The final step to create the ombre effect is a translucent layer of “Jade” HD Living Color Pigment, distributed very delicately with a brush over the entire shadowed area and below the eye along the lash line. The effect is sensational: an intensely saturated blue - green frame the eyes in a multidimensional aura like a dazzling teal jewel.

Definition is achieved with Cream Liner in ebony black along the upper eyelashes and along the waterline of the lower eyelid, accentuating the white of the eye and adding more depth. Mascara is applied liberally to the eyelashes.
False Lashes made with genuine hair are added to the upper lashes to create more drama but are not obligatory.

Lips
The lips remain nude so they will not compete with the eyes for attention. They are shaped and defined with a Contour Pencil, and then as final step colored with High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in “Wave”. It returns the natural beige tone to the lips yet appears soft and glowing.

Fingernails
Ultramarine-blue nail polish goes onto the nails. Eyes and nails are colored in complimentary shades of blue. Whereas the eyes show a metallic shimmer, the nails are enameled in a modern satin-matte finish. For a maximum of elegance, the nails should be moderately short and filed in natural shape.

The key tip from top-pro Kevin James Bennett for a sophisticated look such as “Blue Aura” is: “The make-up must look seamless. Blend, blend, blend – and if you think it looks good, blend a little more”.

SOCIAL MEDIA TRAINING FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS

We must encourage our women in business because in my opinion, if you empower a woman, you have in most cases empowered an entire family, if not the entire community.
Let me refer to the book of all books because it serves as a reminder of what the Creator had in mind, when He decided to create a woman.
Let’s turn to Genesis 2:
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

As you can see from the bible passage that God has destined that woman will always play very important roles in the family and society at large. Any wonder why men always look up to women (mothers, sisters or wives) for support, companionship, love etc.?

Today, society has through urbanization added new levels of responsibilities on women, quite a number of them now play the dual role of taking care of the family as well as pursuing a career or starting a small business to meet up with the growing cost of living. This is has certainly put some sort of pressure on them especially women in business.

Most women in business need;
1.          Business support
2.         Access to finance
3.         Mentoring
4.         Proper web presence management

Kudos should be given to the following organizations for deeming it fit to come to the rescue of women in business;

•           Enterprise Development Centre of the Pan-African University. This is one institution that has stood behind female entrepreneurs through various programs such as the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Scholarship Initiative

•           IBM Nigeria. For various programs that support SMEs including the most recent Enterprise challenge for women.

•           International Finance Corporation, IFC for funding and creating a platform like the SME Toolkit that provides 24/7 time support for SMEs.

Why Social Media Success Training for Women in Business?
We believe in the girl child! We stand solidly by our women!!!

When the IBM Nigeria team invited us to come train 50 women who applied and qualified to be part of the IBM/EDC/IFC women enterprise challenge, we agreed to their request to train these lovely women at no cost whatsoever!

Take-away Tip: One strategy that has always worked for us is “offering our service at no cost” to certain organizations such as Fate Foundation and Full Gospel Nigeria. This has helped us truly become the leading digital media consultants and SEO in Nigeria. So, what is stopping you from offering some free service? Money isn’t everything…………

“The keys to discipline –‘Start with the little things and work up to the big ones”. – Jim Rohn

A look at what I shared with them:

1.          Differentiation – if you must succeed in the social media game, then you must differentiate yourself.

2.         Value – one way of differentiating yourself is through the value you bring to the marketplace.

3.         Content – without content, value will have no history.

4.         Optimization – it is great to have content but it has to be optimized.

5.         Authority – 1-4 makes you an authority in your industry overtime, if you are consistent and focused.

Imagine, dwelling on a single power-point slide for close to 40 minutes? It only points to the fact that it must have been an interesting and engaging session.

During the social media success session, I watched 50 women in business; listen to me with 100% attention. Honestly, I was a bit apprehensive speaking to a female-only class but I made up my mind to make it a remarkable experience. It was a highly interactive, super charged and practical training session.

The moment I uttered the last words “thank you for listening”; I heard women clap like they had just listened to their child make a presentation that made them proud mothers. It was a resounding round of applause indeed!

Guess what happened as I was just settling down? Whispers and hand written notes sent to me;

It was a special moment for me reading these hand written notes.

It did not stop there; as soon we called it a day, I became some sort of ‘superstar’ which by the way I am

All the ladies wanted my business card……..

Sex and Your Business

Sex and Your Business

…Why you need Sex in your Business

Disclaimer: This is not about sex business; sex in the office, with your boss or with a client and it’s definitely not another 50 shades of anything. This is simply about Sex and your Business.

Please rewind and then re-play your last sex experience (that’s if you have any). If not, simply re-play the last sexual scene you saw in a romantic Hollywood movie. How was that sex moment? Did you have a smile on your face or a frown when it ended? If your last sex experience was awful, will you go back to that same partner? Will you bother to do it again?

If the experience as far as you are concerned is not worth going back to, then imagine your ‘New’ client strolling into your office/studio/shop, only to leave with a frown on his/her face as a result of a most awful experience due to your lack of proper customer service conduct. Imagine for a second that you are that customer and the business belongs to some other person. Will you ever go back to that same company? At what cost will you be willing to patronize the same outfit for even another product or service?

This brings us to the reasons why you need sexin your business.

First off, don’t be “a one-minute guy”.  In running your business you don’t want to be that person who doesn't last long. You must be able to create a long-lasting relationship with your clients, every last one of them. And it does not have to be only to get the job done. Get into the process of leaving a good first impression, even when it’s only a “hello, its nice to meet you” scenario. Creating a great first impression is one important tool you’ll readily find useful in all your business dealings.

Secondly, It’s not about “the” orgasm- it’s about “how” you orgasm. Don’t get too busy trying to get all the right things done and you miss the chance to do it right. You can create an incredibly good product or packaging but you might end up delivering it in such an unpleasant way, that your client simply wants no part of it. Doing the right thing at the wrong time is always a disaster. Watch how you give your client an orgasm. It isn’t an event, it’s a process.

Next, Get to know their secret desire(s). Everyone has a secret desire, wish or fantasy. Like you would in sex and as you should in business, getting to know your client’s secret desire(s) isn’t optional – it’s très nécessaire. Understand their needs and be ready to serve that need and make their desire(s) come true. Remember, you’re in business because of your client. It’s understandable that some “special” clients have an insatiable desire yet you might want to make it your job to find their weak point and satisfy their needs or they might seek out someone who will.

Up next is, Know You. I wish I can elaborate on this one but you’ve got to wait for my next post on “YOU & BUSINESS”.

As an entrepreneur, Self-esteem plays a big role in how you feel about yourself and how you handle relationships with clients. It is essential that you come to know “YOU”. Understand how you work and what suits you. Your clients will appreciate it when they know they’re dealing with someone who fully comprehends his or herself. Customers want to deal with someone who is Confident about the product she’s selling to them or the service he’s recommending to them. They want an assurance that who they’re dealing with has a comprehensive knowledge of what he or she is doing, someone who is an authority figure and isn’t afraid to show it. It takes a lot of self-knowledge to radiate that kind of confidence. So, KNOW YOU!

Communication is Everything. As important as communication is in sex, so it is in your business. Don’t miss it and don’t do it wrongly. Relationship experts say that of all we do in our lives, communication alone takes about 90% of our life time. In your business dealings, you must learn how to pass your messages across in ways your clients can hear and understand without any form of misinterpretation. Your body language is as important as your spoken and written words. So watch your body language also. Are your communication signals clear enough not to be misinterpreted? Get your communication skills off the dusty shelve, polish it and make good use of it.

Never let it get stale. This is a cardinal rule of sex and it’s even more vital in your business. Never let your business (idea, operations, processes, etc.) get stale. As soon as your business loses it rhythm, you lose your clients. Be in tune with recent happenings around you and in your business environment or industry. As an entrepreneur you must be innovative and dynamic yet be careful that you don’t become a bandwagon entrepreneur. Draw the line between being “in fashion/trendy” and simply following the crowd.  Keep the passion of your business high and your clients will be drawn to it.
You know sex sells, so give your business a facelift or makeover and sell your business in a unique sexy way that will give your clients a “sexual” business experience and hear them “moan” for more.

I hope you take the time to Sex-Up your business.

MY 17 MILLION NAIRA DECISION

PASSION~2~PROFIT!: MY 17 MILLION NAIRA DECISION!

Have you ever made a N17 million decision? I made one once, but didn't know it at the time.

In Oct 2010, I left a fantastic career and mentor on divine instruction. I had ONLY N20, 000 in my account, a pregnant wife who had left her job, my rent was due and most importantly, I WAS SCARED!

I'm sure you know what I mean. I had equated my job with my value and security, and now that it was gone, I felt I'd lost all my value. Being a two-time College Dropout, my career options were limited, so I decided to look INWARDThe only things I knew I could do were SPEAK, CONSULT, COACH and maybe WRITE and I could do them for FREE.
By April 2011, I had earned my 1 year salary, by July, (2 year salary), by September, (3 year salary) and by November I had earned my 4 years salary! Which came to 17 million Naira!
Wait a second! What happened between October 2010 and April 2011 that made the difference? I stumbled across this big secret which I’m about to share with you. It changed my life forever.
“God's greatest desire for you is to EARN A FEE, doing something He created you to do FOR FREE.”
- felaDUROTOYE

On October 20th, 2012 at 12noon, I’ll be hosting my Life Strategy seminar and sharing on the theme: Mastering The BUSINESS of Your Talent. I’ve come to recognize that while everyone has talent, some have honed it into a skill, but even fewer have been able toPROFIT FROM THEIR PASSION!

So, do any of these categories describe you?

  • Can’t discover your PASSION?
  • You know your passion, but don't know how to turn it into PRODUCT?
  • You have the product, but you can't get PEOPLE to believe in it and PAY FOR IT?
  • People are paying for it but it hasn't become PROFITABLE?
  • It's becoming profitable slowly but you need to build it into a SUSTAINABLE SYSTEM?
If you have answered 'Yes' to any of these questions then, this is for you.
